I have been *not* using this feature for a long time. Everytime i pressed the "new tab" button i would always write www.google.com as a starting point. Not anymore, now it's automatic, you just have to:
1. Open Tools -> Internet Options:
2. Push Tab Settings and define new tab settings:
Done. (Not much of a challenge tough :P)
